Location: Truro or Exeter (Hybrid – regular UK-wide travel required)
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 (dependent on experience)

At Kensa, we’re leading the transition to low-carbon heating across the UK, but innovation means nothing without safety, quality, and care at every step.
We’re looking for a Safety, Health, & Environment (SHE) Advisor to help strengthen and develop our approach to Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) across our growing business. You’ll support the development of our Integrated Management System (IMS), ensure compliance with ISO 14001, 45001, & 9001, and help embed consistent and effective practices across construction, manufacturing, and office environments.
This is a hands-on, varied role where you’ll have the opportunity to influence how safety and quality are delivered across every part of the organisation, from site inspections and audits to awareness campaigns, environmental assessments, and system improvements.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering safe, sustainable practices across our operations.
Health & Safety
- Lead and support risk assessments, incident investigations, and site inspections.
- Manage non-site safety processes like DSE assessments and safe office environments.
- Deliver awareness campaigns and toolbox talks to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Deliver in-house training and mentoring to your colleagues to develop competencies.
Environmental Management
- Support the rollout of our ISO 14001-compliant environmental management system.
- Advise on project-based aspect and impact assessments.
Compliance & Systems
- Act as a key contact for our Integrated Management System (IMS), providing training and guidance.
- Maintain IMS documentation and our digital SHE platform for managing onsite activities.
- Monitor and report on SHE performance data, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
Audits & Assurance
- Coordinate internal audits and support external certification processes.
- Lead smaller audits and manage closure of non-conformities.
Continuous Improvement & Engagement
- Contribute to SHE improvement initiatives and promote best practices.
- Liaise with teams to embed compliance into daily operations and report on progress.
What we’re looking for
- NEBOSH General Certificate level qualification or equivalent level 3 award
- A member of a recognised professional institution, e.g. IOSH, IIRSM etc. at Tech IOSH level, working toward Cert IOSH
- Experience in a H&S, compliance, or management systems role.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental practices.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and 45001 standards.
- Strong organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience supporting audits and/or compliance reviews.
- Clear communication skills, with confidence to engage colleagues at all levels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and reporting tools.
- Formal environmental training (e.g. IEMA Foundation) or willingness to undertake further training.
- Willingness to complete formal auditing qualification.
