Location: South-East of England (UK-wide travel required)
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Salary: Competitive salary circa £60,000 - £65,000 (dependent on experience)
Lead the Future of Low-Carbon Heating
Join Kensa, one of the UK’s leading innovators in ground source heat pump technology, and take ownership of high-profile, technically complex projects that are shaping the future of low-carbon heating. If you thrive on solving technical challenges, managing multi-disciplinary teams, and delivering projects that make a real impact, we’d love to hear from you.
About the Role
As a Technical Project Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind the successful delivery of large-scale, turnkey GSHP installations from initial concept through to commissioning and client handover. These projects involve advanced geothermal systems, drilling and groundworks, and M&E integration, requiring strong technical oversight and strategic coordination.
You’ll act as the central point of control, working closely with designers, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure every project meets the highest standards of safety, sustainability, performance, and quality. This is a hands-on, technically demanding position with real responsibility and visibility.
What you’ll do
Project Delivery and Planning
- Lead projects from feasibility studies to commissioning and client handover.
- Develop and manage project plans, budgets, timelines, and resources.
- Oversee geothermal drilling, trenching, headering, and M&E fit-out activities.
Team and Stakeholder Coordination
- Collaborate with drillers, M&E engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal design teams.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and proactive issue resolution.
Technical and Quality Oversight
- Manage technical elements of drilling, ground loop installation, and heat pump/M&E integration.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and building regulations.
- Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and risk assessments.
Budget and Compliance Management
- Monitor project expenditure and procurement.
- Maintain accurate documentation including reports, contracts, and as-built drawings.
- Support the creation of Construction Phase Plans, including risk assessments and H&S documentation.
Continuous Improvement
- Feed lessons learned into future project processes.
- Stay informed on emerging geothermal and M&E technologies.
- Support the sales team with pre-order information and client guidance.
What you'll bring
- Proven experience in project management within construction, M&E, or renewable energy, ideally in complex or large-scale environments.
- Understanding of M&E systems and installation processes (geothermal or heat pump knowledge is a bonus).
- Ability to lead complex projects and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
- Familiarity with project planning tools (MS Project, Primavera).
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practice.
- SMSTS and CSCS Managers Card.
- Additional training like NEBOSH, IOSH, or Temporary Works Coordinator is advantageous.
